About
Steven M. Merdinger is a Senior Advisor at SAX and joined the firm in the 2022 acquisition of KMR LLP where he served as Managing Partner and was responsible for the overall management of the firm. He has spent his entire career in public accounting and is a recognized leader in a variety of business and community endeavors. For over 40 years, Steve has assisted clients in a broad range of industries, identifying the information they need to increase profitability and to minimize tax expense.
Steve merged his practice with KMR LLP in 2004 after being the senior and founding partner of another New York City based, mid-size CPA firm. Having started his professional career with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC), he rapidly grew in stature and position before being admitted as a partner to a small local firm in 1980.
Steve is a Certified Public Accountant in New York, Florida and Virginia. He is a member of the Dean’s Board of Advisors (and its Executive Committee) of the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB). He also served as the Chairman of GWSB’s Accounting Advisory Council aimed at elevating the department’s image to national prominence. In addition, Steve has served on the Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation – New York Chapter, where he previously was its President and Chairman. He is a member of JDRF’s International Board of Chancellors, and previously was the International Treasurer, Vice President, Board Member and Executive Committee Member for many years. In addition, he is a Director of the APBD Research Foundation and a Founder and Advisor to the Georges Malaika Foundation, a school for 252 young girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He also is the Treasurer and Board Member of the Porto Vita South Condominium Association in Aventura, Florida. He previously served on the Advisory Board of the Park Avenue Synagogue and as the Treasurer of the Topping Riding Club.
